Parts Work Formulation
How to Map Out Trauma Related DissociationNo prerequisites, but this course presumes some knowledge working with trauma and dissociation. This course was developed as a next step to Complexity to Clarity, so those will no experience with working with complex trauma and dissociation would benefit from taking Complexity to Clarity first. All therapeutic orientations are welcome.

Who is this Workshop for?
Mental health practitioners who work with trauma and dissociation and want an in-depth description of how to map out structurally dissociated systems structure a therapy. The focus is on adult therapy clients.
Is there any Practicum?
No. This is an on-demand online course.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- A neurobiologically oriented model of structural dissociation that provides the foundation for your intervention strategies.
- Detail on each layer of the model: Inner Wisdom, Emotional Parts (Action Systems of Survival), Protector Parts, and the Grounded, Embodied Adult
- How to develop a map from a case description
Summary / Overview
This workshop was developed based on feedback from the first several cohorts of Complexity to Clarity, who identified a need for more practice with mapping according to the model presented in that course. In 2023, Catherine invited her consultees who were local to Brisbane to attend a lecture detailing the parts work formulation map that she uses in her work, including these 4 layers: Inner Wisdom, Emotional Parts (Action Systems of Survival), Protector Parts, and the Grounded, Embodied Adult. She then presented a demonstration case and generated a map, and then consultees presented a case from their work, and Catherine built a map with them to structure their therapy. There are 5 different detailed mapping examples in this course: one case illustration from Catherine’s work, and 4 cases presented by consultees.
Detailed Content Summary
Part 1: Detailed formulation model for structural dissociation
Part 2: Applying the Model to a case example from Part 1: Cassie, a complex trauma survivor
Parts 3-6: Applying to different case descriptions to develop plans for structuring the treatment.
